Tight ends (3): Rob Gronkowski, Martellus Bennett, Clay Harbor

Practice squad: A.J. Derby

Cut: Steven Scheu, Bryce Williams

It will be a four-man race for one job behind Gronk and Bennett, and the veteran Harbor is going to win it. Belichick has hinted that he is keen on Harbor’s versatility, particularly his ability to line up in multiple spots on offense. The hoodie probably has more than several ideas for Harbor, and that’s why he signed him this offseason.

Derby will give Harbor the most trouble since he has logged hours in the Patriots’ facility over the past year, but not enough to threaten the veteran substantially. As for Scheu and Williams, it’s hard to think either undrafted rookie will rise above the status of camp body. Now, if tragedy strikes the tight end position in August or even in the early part of the regular season, one of these three players could be called up, but until then, it’s Gronk, Bennett and Harbor.
