Here is your Patriots news for the day….

Offensive guard Jonathan Cooper was involved in the Chandler Jones trade earlier this offseason, as he was sent to New England along with a high draft pick in exchange for the talented defensive end.

Cooper was once a highly touted draft prospect, picked seventh by the Cardinals in the 2013 draft, but injuries have derailed what should have been a great start to his career.

Now that Cooper is in Foxboro, the young guard is looking to ‘rewrite history’.

Here is what he had to say, via Kevin Duffy of Mass Live:

"“It’s just one of those things, you’ve worked hard and things just haven’t seemed to fall your way,” Cooper told SiriusXM. “Honestly, it’s more of a mental thing than anything else. I feel like the biggest thing is the actual fresh start with a new organization and being able, from this day forward, to rewrite my history and be a better player than I was before.”"

Staying in-house, the boys over at ‘NFL Spin Zone’ talked about five Patriots that are poised for breakout seasons in 2016. Shaq Mason, Trey Flowers, Dion Lewis, Malcom Brown and Jimmy Garoppolo were the five players discussed.

I completely agree on Mason, Lewis and Brown (although Lewis and Brown kind of already broke out last year), but disagree on Flowers and Garoppolo. I like Flowers’ talent, but right now, I think it will be tough for him to break into the rotation on the edge. Rob Ninkovich, Jabaal Sheard and Chris Long will all be the three guys splitting reps at defensive end for England, and barring any injuries, I just think it will be tough for Flowers to break in.

As for Garoppolo? I have for thing to say…FREE BRADY

As painful as it might be to re-live, our very own Kirk Von Kreisler put together a great piece comparing the 2007 Patriots to the 2015 Warriors.

Lastly, Sam Weaver at ‘NFL Mocks’ went through the top fantasy options at tight end this year, and unsurprisingly, Rob Gronkowski was at number one. Gronk is an all-time great talent, and an all-time great fantasy option. Snag him as quickly as you can.
