1. There are (slightly) better chances of undrafted rookies Steven Scheu or Bryce Williams making the final roster.

It’s still a long shot, but one less body at the position increases the chances of one of these two roster hopefuls having their NFL dreams come true.

Forecasting Steven Scheu in 2016

Look, this writer hasn’t been too keen on Scheu since news broke of the Patriots signing the Vanderbilt product after the draft. He doesn’t do one thing entirely that well (although we did note in our 32 interesting facts for 32 offseason additions that Scheu led SEC tight ends in receptions two years ago.

Forecasting Bryce Williams in 2016

As for Williams, well, he’s a bit more intriguing of a prospect at first sight. It’s hard to miss the 6-foot-6 East Carolina product with his locks of hair; he might just become a fan favorite this summer.

However, don’t bet your mortgage on one of these guys squeezing onto the final roster somehow, unless injuries really bite the Patriots in the butt in preseason.
