3. Aaron Dobson was the best receiver on the field.

Without top targets Edelman and Amendola at Patriots minicamp, Dobson took advantage and made jaw-dropping plays all day. The highlights were an impressive crossing pattern grab against Butler and then a 50-yard touchdown by way of a one-handed catch over Darryl Roberts.

Could it be another year, another summer of impressive play from Dobson? Hopefully the fourth-year veteran stays healthy and actually produces consistently in the regular season.

These 30 players will definitely make the final roster

2. Shea McClellin continues to work at the edge.

Over the weekend, we told you about the Patriots initially training McClellin at defensive end, and Perillo reports that the Pats are continuing to keep McClellin at the edge. If that continues, it makes one wonder who the No. 3 linebacker will be behind Jamie Collins and Dont’a Hightower.

Power ranking offseason cornerback additions

1. Joe Thuney working in at center.

As evidenced by the white towel around his waist, it looks like Thuney is getting reps at center. The Patriots’ second selection in the 2016 NFL Draft is as versatile as they come having played all five positions on the offensive line in college, so it’s not surprising to see the Patriots testing Thuney’s skills at center early on.

If Thuney can also play center, that gives the Patriots not one, not two, but three guard/center hybrids along with Stork and sophomore pro David Andrews.
