SPECIAL TEAMS (6)

Stephen Gostkowski

Ryan Allen

Matthew Slater

Brandon King

Nate Ebner

Joe Cardona

Cut: Christian Yount

No surprises here.

The Patriots are blessed with one of the league’s best kickers in Gostkowski (even though he picked the absolute worst time and place to end his extra point streak in the AFC Championship Game).

Allen is up in the top ten of punters, and he etched his name in the history of the game by booting the longest punt in Super Bowl history. Slater and King provide Allen with excellent punt coverage; during the 2015 season, this writer noted how King is studying under Slater and emulating the veteran in more ways than one.

Now that the Navy has cleared Cardona to play football in 2016, Yount’s days in New England are numbered unless he really shows us something in training camp.
