Four years ago, the NFL increased the offseason roster limit from 80 to 90 players. The rule change has injected 320 late draft picks and undrafted rookies into the league every spring, which has in turn broadened the representation of colleges on NFL rosters. With that in mind, let’s take a look at the 61 colleges currently represented on the Patriots’ roster. We will proceed in alphabetical order.

61. Alabama – Michael Williams, Dont’a Hightower, Cyrus Jones

While Hightower and Jones are locks to make the final roster, Williams faces an uphill climb due to the fact that he isn’t a threat in the passing game. Then again, that could work out well for him if the Patriots decide they want a blocking specialist to compliment Rob Gronkowski and Martellus Bennett.

60. Alabama A&M – Frank Kearse

A veteran of 35 games in the NFL, Kearse will have to prove himself against rookies Vincent Valentine and Anthony Johnson

59. Arizona – Rob Gronkowski

Ah yes, our Madden NFL 17 cover boy. A fun fact about Gronkowski, who turned 27 on Saturday: he already ranks third among tight ends in NFL history with 66 touchdowns. No player in the NFL has scored that many touchdowns since Gronk entered the league in 2010.

58. Arizona State – Devin Lucien, D.J. Foster

Lucien drew Bill Belichick’s attention because he barely ever drops the ball. Foster is the only rookie running back the Patriots added over the offseason, although he can also pull duty as a wide receiver.
