4 Patriots news items from Wednesday
Here are four notable New England Patriots news items from Wednesday that you may have missed while you were at work:
4. Edelman’s foot
Per Adam Schefter and Mike Reiss of ESPN, Julian Edelman underwent surgery on his left foot but will be good to go by the time the dog days of summer roll around.
We knew this surgery was going to happen at some point this offseason, so this doesn’t come as a huge surprise. The words “cleanup procedure” are certainly comforting.
Having missed seven regular season games in 2015, you can bet that Edelman is chomping at the bit to get back on the field. Yes, he returned for the postseason and made some plays, but the weight of the world was heaped on Edelman’s shoulders upon his return and he didn’t quite live up to them (understandably).
Health permitting, look for a 2016 stat line mirroring those of 2013 and 2014 when Edelman rose into stardom and made Patriots fans forget about Wes Welker. Something in the neighborhood of 90 receptions, 900 yards and nine touchdowns should be Edelman’s goal.
