Now that the Patriots have signed almost all of their draft picks, as well as picked up quite a few undrafted rookies, lets take a look at which familiar faces might be on the chopping block.

Now that Danny Amendola has restructed, he’s staying around. There’s no doubt about it. He’s a nice piece of the offense and will never be asked to carry the workload.

3 ripple effects of Danny Amendola restructuring contract

The drafting of Malcolm Mitchell and Devin Lucien spells the end for second round burn out Aaron Dobson. Honestly, I say good riddance. Dobson had one good game against the Steelers a few years back, and after that he couldn’t even find the field. He never panned out and never seemed to take his job seriously. Drops, injuries and the doghouse made him a huge waste of a pick. I’ll be happy to see him go.

Honorable mentions: receivers not named Edelman, Amendola, Mitchell, Lucien, Hogan and Martin

The Patriots have a lot of running backs in the stable this year. Lewis, Blount, Bolden and White are the only ones who we know will make the roster. That puts Donald Brown, Tyler Gaffney and UDFA DJ Foster (I like that kid) righting for the last spot. Brown might have the edge here, but I can almost assure you the Tyler Gaffney experiment is over. He’s already been cut once this off season, he’ll probably be cut again.

Evaluating roster chances of every Patriots draft pick

There’s a lot of tight ends on the roster right now as well. There’s Gronk, Bennett, Williams, Derby, and Harbor. Gronk, Bennett and Harbor are locks; I think Williams makes it because he plays OL in a pinch too. Derby is a great PS candidate, and I think that’s where he ends up. Not really a cut, but he’s not on the 53-man roster.
