4 Patriots news items from Friday
3. Joey Iosefa released
ESPN’s Mike Reiss was the first to report the news that the Patriots released power back Joey Iosefa on Friday:
This was a somewhat surprising move. This writer thought the Patriots were going to keep Iosefa in their back pocket in the event that LeGarrette Blount gets injured, as there isn’t another beefy, downhill ball carrier on the team’s roster besides Blount.

We all remember Iosefa’s hammering of Coty Sensabaugh in the Week 15 romp over the Tennessee Titans; it’s that kind of bruising running that the Patriots always need to have at their disposal, even when Blount is injured.
Who knows, maybe Iosefa will find his way back to New England before the summer is over. He’s an exciting player to watch and an easy guy to root for.
