Danny Amendola restructures contract with Patriots
As if we needed another reminder of how awesome Danny Amendola is, the veteran wide receiver restructured his contract with the New England Patriots. Fox Sports 1’s Mike Garafolo was the first to break the news:
According to Garafolo, this was Amendola’s statement:
"It’s an honor to play for this franchise and with this group of guys. We have one goal- to win another Championship and that’s all we care about."
Clearly, that’s all Amendola cares about, and that’s why he is awesome.
Throughout the offseason, there have been rumors indicating that Amendola’s days in New England were numbered. He was set to become the highest paid receiver on the Patriots, even more so than Julian Edelman. The numbers just weren’t right, so it’s good to see that the Patriots worked things out with one of the most underrated receivers in the NFL.

Amendola’s contributions to the 2015 Patriots cannot be understated. Playing in his third season with the Patriots, Amendola recorded more receptions (65), yards (648) and touchdowns (three) than in either of his previous two seasons. When Edelman went down with injury, Amendola stepped up.

With Amendola locked up for the foreseeable future, the Patriots can now focus on finding that outside possession receiver. The Patriots need a Brandon LaFell circa 2014 to emerge as a threat on the outside to compliment Edelman and Amendola in the middle.
