5. Running back

You have to think the Patriots will use one of these eight selections on a running back. They are one key fixture away from fielding one of the NFL’s best backfields. Think about it: the group of LeGarrette Blount, Dion Lewis, James White and Brandon Bolden begs for an exciting and capable rookie contributor.

6 RBs Pats should consider in 2016 NFL Draft

If you’re a regular on the site, you’ll know that I am a big fan of C.J. Prosise, but he’s a member of the Seattle Seahawks now. The other running backs taken in the first three rounds were Ezekiel Elliot, Derrick Henry and Kenyan Drake. Only four running backs off the board means there is still plenty of talent to draw from.

Keep an eye on Devontae Booker, Kenneth Dixon and Jordan Howard. The Pats might not burn their fourth round pick on a running back, but they ought to have picked one by the end of the sixth round.
