Finally, the New England Patriots have made their first selections of the 2016 NFL Draft. We had to wait until No. 60 for the excitement, but we were not disappointed. The Patriots snagged cornerback Cyrus Jones, then deepened the offensive line with the selection of Joe Thuney, then added Jacoby Brissett as a potential No. 3 quarterback and Vincent Valentine to add another layer to the interior defensive line.

Now, the attention turns to Day 3. The Patriots have been wheeling and dealing to broaden their equity in the 2016 NFL Draft, and it has paid off.

As it stands this morning, the Patriots have eight selections remaining. That includes a fourth rounder, a whopping five sixth rounders and two seventh rounders.

Mike Reiss pointed out last night that using all eight of those picks wouldn’t leave much room for undrafted signings.

But this 2016 NFL Draft is so deep that the Patriots may be just fine with that. Now, let’s get to the meat of it.
