Reordering Patriots’ cornerback depth chart after E.J. Biggers signing
2. Logan Ryan
In his third season with the Patriots, Ryan shook off a sophomore slump to rocket up the NFL’s cornerback ranks. Pro Football Focus named him the No. 8 cornerback in the entire league. He held his own and then some in matchups against DeAndre Hopkins and Demaryius Thomas, proving that with the safety help of Devin McCourty, Ryan is one of the better cornerbacks in the league.
MUST-READ: Who will be this year’s Jabaal Sheard?
Entering the 2016, Ryan’s status as the No. 2 corner is pretty much set in stone. There’s some chance the Patriots will slide Ryan to the nickel role if a promising outside cover man emerges; considering how often the Patriots use three corners, that might be worth considering.
In the event that the player in the next slide misses time due to injury, Ryan would take over as the No. 1 corner.
