2. James Ihedigbo

Like Powers, Ihedigbo represented the Detroit Lions in our free agency wish list article a few weeks back:

"Ihedigbo only spent one season with the Patriots, but he left enough of an impression on this writer to wish the Patriots would bring him back. The Lions have officially severed ties with the veteran safety, so the opportunity is there to make this fantasy a reality. A native of Northampton, MA and graduate of UMass (this writer’s stomping grounds), Ihedigbo should ride out the rest of his career in New England. When he played for the Pats in 2011, Ihedigbo was one of the pump-up guys on the roster, leading the team out of the tunnel right next to Brady. It’d be great to have that kind of energy back in the locker room."

Now that Tavon Wilson has left in free agency (for Detroit, as it so happens), the Patriots could use an addition at strong safety depth and special teams. Ihedigbo knows how things work in New England; why not take a chance on him?
