4. Anquan Boldin

Boldin appeared in our listing of free agents over 30 the Patriots should consider because he could be a good replacement for Danny Amendola should ‘Dola depart due to salary cap reasons.

"Look, Boldin isn’t a spring chicken by any means at age 35. But what he does offer is excellent potential as a possession receiver in underneath and intermediate routes, a role that Amendola helped fill along with Julian Edelman. The Patriots may decide that Boldin is worth a look as second fiddle to Edelman in the middle of the field."

Of course, we know now that Chris Hogan will also be working alongside Edelman. But Hogan is replacing Brandon LaFell in the receiving corps, so if Amendola leaves as well, Boldin may be a desirable option. And it’s clear the Patriots are interested in adding another wideouts, as they hosted Nate Washington recently. Speaking of Washington…
