34. 47. Final. 38. 46

This game will not be forgotten for three reasons:

(1) The New England Patriots Patriots had a 21-6 lead at halftime and could’ve/should’ve went on to winning their 4th Super Bowl in 6 seasons.

(2) Peyton Manning engineered one of the biggest comebacks in postseason history, beat the Patriots in the playoffs for the first time in his career, and he won his first Super Bowl against the Chicago Bears.

(3) When discussing the best games of the Tom Brady-Peyton Manning rivalry, this game is always near the top, if not first.

Not including Super Bowl losses, this loss is one that continues to haunt the Patriots.

After being down by two touchdowns, the Colts offense stormed back to tied the game. With players nearing the end of their careers, the Patriots defense played fairly well in the first half, but could not keep up in the second.

But the Patriots held on strong, not allowing the Colts to take the lead  until late in the fourth, where the Colts drove and scored a touchdown with just a minute remaining and spoiling the Patriots chance to head to yet another Super Bowl.

For Peyton Manning, the Colts, and their fans, they will remember overcoming adversity and finally exorcising their demons to finally beat Bill Belichick, Tom Brady, and the Patriots.

Though, for the Patriots and their fans, if there’s one thing that will be discussed about that game, it will be this.
