5. James Develin signed to one-year deal

The Patriots rewarded Develin for his patience (he missed all of 2015 with a broken tibia suffered in the preseason) by signing him to a one-year deal. As noted by Mike Reiss, a phone call with Bill Belichick lured Develin to stick around in New England.

Here’s Develin’s reaction to the news:

After spending the majority of his rookie season on the practice squad, the Brown product appeared in every game for the Patriots in 2013 and 2014. You may remember that Tom Brady has repeatedly called Develin the best fullback in the league with his bruising blocking and effective play on special teams.
