Considering free-agent OL Zane Beadles’ possible fit with Patriots

Mike Reiss-ESPN Boston

"Zane Beadles’ release in Jacksonville appears to be a combination of performance and finances. He started every game in his two years with the Jaguars, but the tape wasn’t always kind to him in 2015, particularly as a pass-blocker. With some young interior offensive linemen primed to emerge, and Beadles scheduled to earn $4.975 million in 2016, the Jaguars made the call to move on now. As for the Patriots, I could envision them adding a veteran interior offensive lineman to join the mix with centers Bryan Stork and David Andrews, and guards Josh Kline, Shaq Mason and Tre’ Jackson, but don’t see it being a big contract."

Why New England Patriots Shouldn’t Spend Big on Offensive Line in Free Agency

Erik Frenz-Bleacher Report

"The New England Patriots had an offensive line problem in 2015. From depth at tackle to experience at guard to injuries all over, it seemed like the five-man group was under fire from the beginning of the regular season. But it’s too easy to close your eyes, throw money at the problem and hope it goes away. Unfortunately for the Patriots, that’s not possible with salary-cap constraints as tight as the ones they face headed into the 2016 offseason."

5 Early-Round NFL Draft Prospects the Patriots Must Target

Williams Brabrook-Bleacher Report

"Even though the New England Patriots will enter the 2016 NFL draft without their first-round pick, there’s little reason to believe the Patriots won’t come away with one of the most talented draft classes yet again.Every year, the Patriots find several “diamonds in the rough” in the draft to fuel their perennial status among the AFC’s elite teams. Just look at the seven Pro Bowlers that New England produced this past season."
