Concluding the analysis

As it stands right now, Brady and Manning are knotted at 2-2 in their playoff history against one another. Brady won the first two, Manning one the last two. Something is going to change next Sunday.

You can bet that for Brady, the fact that he hasn’t beaten Manning in postseason play in over a decade—11 years, to be exact—will be a major point of motivation. He may own a 9-3 regular season record over Manning, but that doesn’t matter to Brady nearly as much as the playoff results.

As for Manning, he’s going to be hoping that history continues to repeat itself. The Broncos are the only team that Brady has losing record against (5-6). And Brady’s even worse in Denver, where he’s lost both playoff games he’s played there, as well as the Week 12 meeting in the Mile High City this season.

But then again, it’s a refreshing change of narrative when Brady and the Patriots have history against them. All those losses in Denver, as well as the past two losses to Manning in the playoffs, will fuel Brady as he prepares for one of the most pivotal games of his storied career.
