Who Will the Patriots Face Next Week?
By David Smith
The Patriots were able to beat the Chiefs last night and are now going to be playing in their 5th straight AFC Championship game. Their opponent will be determined later tonight, so who will they be playing?
Case For Denver
Denver has a lot going for them, they have a stout defense, they’re playing at home and their opponent is a walking shell. Pittsburgh is down 2 running backs and probably the best receiver in football. Their QB also has multiple muscle tears in his throwing shoulder, they are running on empty. Having to go up to Denver, against that defense would be tough without all of the injuries they have, with them, it’ll be basically impossible for the Steelers to win.
Case For Pittsburgh
Manning sucks…the game will kick off at under 40 degrees, which Manning is 0-5 in during the post season. Peyton is a choke artist when it matters and he hasn’t played in weeks. He has no arm strength and the Steelers’ defense can get after Manning because he can’t move anymore. Big Ben is also responding well to treatment and will be ready to go, plus he’s endured worse injuries before and kept on playing. Big Ben will find way to move the ball better than Manning and will be able to get after that defense.
I personally want Pittsburgh to win. Mainly because I want New England to get another home game and because I’m sick of hearing the ‘who is better? Brady or Manning’ debate…it’s Brady. Brady is clearly better, stats don’t lie, when the game is on the line, you want Tom. I know a lot of people will be wanting another, and probably final installment of the Brady v. Manning saga, but I’m over it. They were fun for a while but Brady has pulled away from Manning in a big way over the last few years. It takes Brady 4 times as long to remove his Super Bowl hardware, so that little debate has been put to bed. In all honesty, it doesn’t really matter who wins today’s game, I like the Patriots’ odds of beating both teams.
