5. 2010 – Jets 28, Patriots 21

The Patriots’ frustrations at the end of the 2000s decade continued when the Jets marched into Gillette Stadium and handed Brady his second career loss in the Divisional Round.

Brady’s numbers weren’t all that bad—64.4 percent completion rate, 299 yards, two touchdowns and a pick. But that interception to David Harris was very costly, as Harris returned it 58 yards to set up the Jets in position to score.

Patriots vs. Chiefs: Defensive keys

Branch and Alge Crumpler, who may have the best name for a football player in history, caught Brady’s touchdown passes. Julian Edelman was an unknown at the time this game was played; he caught just one pass for 12 yards.

This was perhaps the most painful of the Patriots’ playoff exits, as the New England fan base had been deprived of a postseason victory since the 2007 AFC Championship Game. And of course, it had to come at the hands of the hated Jets. We all remember Bart Scott’s ungraceful postgame barking on television.
