Despite putting forth the worst performance of his 11 Divisional Round appearances, Brady managed to pilot the Patriots to victory in the San Diego sun.

Brady completed 27 of 51 passes for 280 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions. Rarely in the playoffs does a quarterback get away with throwing that many interceptions, but Brady was fortunate.

Playing with an underwhelming receiving corps as he did throughout the 2006 season, Brady hit Reche Caldwell for a four-yard touchdown pass at the tail end of the game, and a Kevin Faulk two-point conversion run tied it up. A 31-yard field goal by rookie kicker Stephen Gostkowski in the final minute gave the Patriots the victory.

Despite Donnie Edward, Drayton Florence and Marlon McCree all getting their mitts on a Brady pass, the Patriots squeezed by the Chargers and on to the AFC Championship Game, where they would lose to the Colts.

Brady’s top receiver on the afternoon was Jabar Gaffney, who pulled down 10 passes for 103 yards.
