Brady wasn’t the focal point of this victory, as the Patriots employed the power running services of LeGarrette Blount early and often. Blount carried the ball 24 times for 166 yards and four—yes, four—touchdowns to lead the Patriots to the AFC Championship Game.

On the other side of the ball, the Patriots’ defense forced four interceptions of Andrew Luck—two by Alfonzo Dennard (who ended up in jail last month), and one each by Jamie Collins and Dont’a Hightower.

Patriots vs. Chiefs: Examining the quarterbacks

Brady wasn’t all that flashy, completing just 13 of 25 passes for 198 yards. But then again, he didn’t need to be. Between Blount’s career game and Andrew Luck’s self-destruction, the path was cleared for Brady to coast to his eighth career victory in the Divisional Round.

The Patriots’ 2013 season would end in a frustrating 26-16 loss to the Broncos a week later, giving Brady a 0-2 playoff record in the Mile High City. Let’s hope he improves on that record should the Patriots and Broncos both win this weekend.
