We’re about 72 hours away from kickoff between the New England Patriots and Houston Texans in Week 14, give or take. To help pass the time until the first snap, we’re going to break down six bold predictions for the pivotal AFC showdown.

Carrying a two-game losing streak into Sunday night’s matchup, the Patriots aren’t considered much more than moderate favorites against the Texans. Before losing in Week 13, the Texans had been winners of four straight since getting trounced by the Miami Dolphins in late October. Bill O’Brien’s team features the league’s best defensive player in J.J. Watt as well as the Julio Jones of the AFC, DeAndre Hopkins.

This is an enormous game for both teams. The Patriots absolutely cannot lose this game, or else their chances of securing the top seed in the conference will slip away. As for the Texans, they sit smack in the middle of the playoff picture at 6-6. Their only avenue into the playoffs will likely be through winning the AFC South, so they must keep pace with the 6-6 Indianapolis Colts.
