4. Danny Amendola punt return vs. Giants

Although the end was heartbreaking, Amendola had his best punt return of his career in the third quarter of the Giants game. He fielded and returned a punt 82 yards before Duron Harmon tripped him up yards short of the goal line:

Nonetheless, the Patriots capitalized off the momentous play when LeGarrette Blount squeezed in for a one-yard touchdown a few plays later. The score cut the lead to three late in the third quarter, keeping the Patriots above water in what had become a very difficult game.

Amendola has been the Patriots’ main punt return man this season. He’s returned more punts (15) than Edelman (10) and is churning out more yards per carry (13.7 to Edelman’s 8.1). And for what it’s worth, he has also been the primary kick returner, bring out twice as many kick returns (8) as all other players combined (4). Amendola’s kick return average of 21.5 is also pretty easy on the eyes.

The Patriots can live without Edelman, but they certainly can’t stand to lose Amendola too, as shown by that fantastic punt return this past Sunday.
