With a nine-game sample size to analyze, it’s safe to say that Butler is not a one-trick pony. But back in September, the world was still getting to know the West Alabama product. People were eager to see how Butler would play after his Super Bowl XLIX heroism, wondering if he would be up to the job of replacing Darrelle Revis as the Pats’ top corner.

Butler had an up-and-down opening night matching up against Antonio Brown, and entered Week 2 looking to have an improved performance. And he did, highlighted by this outstanding interception of Tyrod Taylor:

Without a doubt, Butler has been the best cornerback for the Patriots, and one of the better No. 1 corners in the entire league as well. After shutting down Odell Beckham Jr. for the majority of Sunday’s game and accumulating three passes defended in the process, Butler is now tied for ninth among all defensive players with 11 passes defended. That’s more than many top-flight cornerbacks, such as Revis, Richard Sherman and Aqib Talib.

The future is bright for Butler in New England.
