Another week, another close loss. Five of the Chargers’ six losses have been by a one-score margin. While poor luck is certainly a factor, the fact remains that the Chargers aren’t winning close games, and that’s a problem.

Melvin Gordon’s stunted production has been source of frustration in San Diego. The Chargers handed their first-round pick the ball 18 times against the Baltimore Ravens, and Gordon managed just 54 yards. Gordon’s yards per rush of 3.7 yards pales in comparison to that of fellow rookie Todd Gurley, who is scorching the league right now by gaining 6.1 yards every time he takes a handoff.

If there was any time to right the ship, it’s now. The Chargers play their next two games at home in front of a national television audience, and neither the Chicago Bears nor the Kansas City Chiefs present an insurmountable threat to the bolts.
. AFC West. 2-6. San Diego Chargers. 13. player. 13
