The AFC East showdown between the New England Patriots and New York Jets is fast approaching. Without a doubt, this will be the biggest test for a Patriots team that hasn’t lost a meaningful game since November of last year (their Week 17 loss to the Buffalo Bills doesn’t warrant the meaningful label). To help pass the time until kickoff, here are five bold predictions for the big game.

5. Julian Edelman will bounce back against Darrelle Revis

Aside from making an impressive touchdown catch in traffic that mangled his pinky finger, Edelman had a bit of a rough game against the Indianapolis Colts. Uncharacteristically, he committed multiple drops, one of which led to a Mike Adams pick-six (Tom Brady’s first interception of the season).

While Edelman was struggling to catch the ball, Danny Amendola stepped-up and led the Pats with seven catches for 105 yards, earning the praise of Bill Belichick. You can bet that the ultra-competitive Edelman is eager to resume his role as Brady’s most trusted target.

Make no mistake, Edelman will bounce-back this week, and he will do it against arguably the best cover man in football. Edelman and Revis spent a training camp and an entire regular season of practices competing against each other, and Edelman is perhaps the most underrated one-on-one wide receiver in the league. A stat line of 10 catches for 100 yards and a touchdown is what this writer is looking for out of Edelman in Week 7.
