5. Akiem Hicks’ debut as a Patriot

Earlier this week, the Pats spun a deal that sent Michael Hoomanawanui down to New Orleans in return for defensive end Akiem Hicks. A starter in 33 of 47 career games, Hicks is a proven commodity that should bolster an already stout front seven.

Here’s what Hicks had to say to Patriots.com after his first practice wearing Patriot blue:

"I really admire the coaching style and the style of play [here]… For me, it’s all about moving forward and getting into my new team and focusing on what I have to do here. I definitely want to be as versatile as I have been in the past. Just look forward to playing in this new scheme. I don’t have a hold on it yet, but… It’s a process. I look forward to how we get me involved.”"

If Hicks can become a contributor in some way, shape or form, then this trade will have definitely paid off. I, for one, am excited to see him play against the team that the Saints just beat.
