Rex Ryan Can’t Wait To Face The ‘Hated Patriots’

Rex Ryan is ready to re-ignite his personal rivalry with the Patriots.

After struggling the last couple of years with a Jets team that was headed in the wrong direction, Ryan now has a group talented enough to possibly challenge New England. They just disposed of Andrew Luck and the Colts, and now they get a shot at Tom Brady and the Patriots.

Yesterday Ryan talked about the upcoming challenge: (via Mike Rodak of ESPN)

On prepping for the defending champs:

"“Shoot, I’ll go home early [this week]. I’m ain’t [not] gonna be ready. That plan’s been ready for a long time.”"

On what he wants to see from the Buffalo fans:

"“I can’t wait to see what our fans are going to be like when you have the hated Patriots — I mean, this kind of rival — coming into our stadium. I don’t think our fans need any more prompting. I’m looking forward to it, and I’m just so glad that we play the game here. So that’s gonna be fun.”"

If anything has changed from facing the Patriots in the past:

"“I don’t know if a whole lot has changed. The fact that they’re kind of the hunted in my eyes, because they’re the world champions. So they obviously won our division every single year that I’ve been here. So obviously they’re the ones that you want to knock off. That probably hasn’t changed a whole lot.”"

Just Rexy being Rexy.

Look, I understand if you don’t like Ryan’s style, but I personally love it. Obviously as a Pats fan I don’t like him when New England is facing off with him, but his arrogance and bravado is something that I think the NFL needs more of. It’s just too bad his team can’t back it up most of the time.

In all seriousness, Rex knows that this game will be a huge challenge, and you better believe he will have his troops ready to go. I think this matchup has the potential to be a great one, and I can’t wait to see how the Patriots match up.

Ryan also took a little shot at Patriots’ running back Dion Lewis in his time with the media yesterday: (via Mike Reiss of ESPN Boston)

"“Nah, I mean they’re decent backs in their own right. But I don’t think we’re gonna focus on that kid. I can’t even tell you that kid’s name. But you’re gonna focus on the guy throwing the ball, I’ll tell you that much.”"

I hope Lewis has a huge game just for that comment, because believe me, this kid can ball. It’s safe to say the Patriots have plenty of bulletin board material for this week’s divisional showdown.
