Opening day countdowns are great. So are player profiles. Here at Musket Fire, we decided to combine them and create a Week 1 countdown-oriented, jersey number-dictated player profile series. Yesterday, we looked at No. 60 David Andrews, and the day before that it was No. 61 Marcus Cannon. Because today marks 59 days until the New England Patriots open 2015, we are profiling No. 59 linebacker Chris White.
Selected in the sixth round of the 2011 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills, White has been largely a role player in four NFL seasons. The Mississippi State product has appeared in 51 games, totaling 29 combined tackles and one forced fumble. White has never started a game, making his living through special teams duty.
After two seasons in Buffalo, White was traded to the Detroit Lions for quarterback Thaddeus Lewis in August of 2013. However, his stint in the Motor City was short-lived, as White was released just six days after the trade was completed.

From that point, the Patriots swooped in and nabbed White off waivers in early September. It seems like White fits well in New England; he takes his job seriously, and strives to be a top-tier special teams player.
It should be noted that White made contributions during the playoffs, racking up four special teams tackles over the course of the Divisional Round, AFC Championship, and Super Bowl.
White is in good standing to retain his status on the Patriots’ 53-man roster because of his special teams value, although he certainly won’t figure into the rotation of linebackers.
In case you missed them, here are the profiles for No. 62 Ryan Wendell, No. 63 Tre’ Jackson, No. 64 Chris Barker, No. 65 Jordan Devey, No. 66 Bryan Stork, No. 67 Josh Kline, No. 68 Caylin Hauptmann, No. 69 Shaq Mason, No. 71 Cameron Fleming, No. 72 Joe Vellano, No. 74 Trey Flowers, No. 76 Sebastian Vollmer, No. 77 Nate Solder, No. 80 Danny Amendola, No. 82 Josh Boyce and No. 84 Brian Tyms.
Be sure to check back on Musket Fire tomorrow morning as we celebrate 58 days until Week 1 by profiling No. 58, linebacker Darius Fleming.
