4. James White

Blount has to be considered a definite No. 2, possibly even a No. 1 fantasy football running back now that Stevan Ridley and Shane Vereen have new employers. His downhill, bruising style of play makes him one of the NFL’s best goal line rushers, and that bodes well for fantasy owners.

The other thing worth noting about Blount is that he’s never averaged lower than 4.7 yards per carry as a member of the Patriots. There’s something about the Patriots that makes Blount thrive, and fantasy owners should be aware of that as they fill-out their starting running back slots.

Similarly to Blount, Gray is a powerful back that has the potential to knock it out of the park for fantasy owners on any given Sunday. No one saw Gray’s four-touchdown stat line against the Indianapolis Colts coming, but you can learn from that instance of overlooking by investing in Gray this season. He’s worth stowing away on your bench.

Cadet and White are included here because they will essentially be competing against each other for Vereen’s role of the receiving back. And it’s a lucrative job, at that; Brady loves throwing to slippery running backs out of the backfield, and both Cadet and White offer that skill set. Cadet has the upper hand because of his experience with the New Orleans Saints, and he should be considered a late-round sleeper for sure.
