Category 4: Best Game

  • Super Bowl XLIX
  • A’s vs. Royals-AL Wild Card
  • Spurs vs. Clippers-Game 7

Ummm, seriously?

Arguably the greatest Super Bowl ever played, against a baseball wild card game, and a game 7 in the quarterfinals of the western conference playoffs in basketball. Anyone that has a brain knows that Super Bowl XLIX easily deserves to win this category, based solely on importance. You can take out the fact that this game might have been the greatest Super Bowl ever, the fact remains, this was the Super Bowl, and any well-played, close Super Bowl deserves to win over an AL Wild Card game, and a basketball game that hasn’t even reached the semi-finals of the playoffs.

We might currently be prisoners of the moment by thinking that Super Bowl 49 was the greatest Super Bowl ever played, and in a few years, we might realize it wasn’t the best ever. But no one can argue how great it was, and I think it has cemented its place in the top five of championship games played.
