I don’t think this category is even close. Did any of these other plays single-handidly clinch the greatest championship trophy in sports? I didn’t think so. A lot of people say the call was stupid, and I think that opinion is stupid. The call was fine, and the throw was actually pretty good as well. But Brandon Browner and Malcolm Butler made an amazing defensive play to make that interception, and that is why the Patriots are Super Bowl champions right now.
Some of these other plays might have been “cooler” than the Butler play, such as the Beckham catch, but what was the significance of that catch? Not much.
