8. Travaris Cadet (Running Back)

Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

With Shane Vereen departing to the New York Giants via free agency this offseason, the Patriots need a back that can catch passes out of the backfield. Cadet showed flashes of pass-catching ability last season while with the New Orleans Saints when he caught 38 balls for 296 yards. Second-year back James White is another candidate to take this spot but Cadet has more experience and playing in the Saints high-powered offense gives him bonus points.

Cadet also has a chance to really blossom as a player if he earns more than just a limited role in Josh McDaniels’ offense. New England’s offense is all about versatility and having as many weapons as possible, Cadet should can be a nice matchup against linebackers in coverage with his speed.
