DeflateGate: Poking Holes In Wells Report; Defending Tom Brady

facebooktwitterreddit

After 103 days, the Ted Wells reported was finally released yesterday, and…well, it was pretty underwhelming.

A lot of people are quick to tear down Tom Brady’s entire career of accomplishments, which is ridiculous in itself, but on top of that, there are a LOT of holes in Wells’ report. Here are a couple of articles from some of the best in the business proving the inconsistencies in his report, and defending the New England Patriots, and their quarterback.

"The investigation, the findings, and the official conclusion completes a 100-day process of absolutely nothing. It’s a circus, a charade, and a performance to placate the masses because if the league is going to draw blood, it might as well come from the current kings. There are numerous shortcomings with the research done by Ted Wells and his team, or at least they’re presented in a way that’s disingenuous and blatantly slanted towards a foregone conclusion."

Excerpt:

"Roger Goodell’s league spent four months and a seemingness endless stream of legal resources on the “independent” Ted Wells report to kill the Patriots and Tom Brady over something they could never really prove. In the end, what they found was enough evidence to be suspicious of the Patriots quarterback and equipment personnel inside Gillette Stadium. They did not find anything more than that."

"But after all of that hubbub, after the countless hours spent investigating, that’s all we have.Seems. Likely. More probable than not. At least generally aware. That’s it.It is, frankly, disappointing, but given the NFL’s history of investigations, it would have been foolish to expect more."

"THIS is what we waited 103 days for?Two-hundred and forty-three pages of mealy-mouthed “It is more probable than not” proclamations that have all the impact of a wet sponge? Hopefully that Thursday Night Football package continues to pay off this season, because if not, the NFL is going to be in real trouble."

Excerpt:

"It took 243 pages for Ted Wells to attempt to summarize his 31⁄2-month Deflategate investigation. All that paper, so little proof, and yet so much shade thrown at Tom Brady.Wells should at least have the decency to use two-ply next time. There were so many holes in the investigation, and the presumptive tone of the actual report appeared to cover up a lack of damning evidence."
