Round 4, 101st Overall: DE Trey Flowers

Roster chances: 6.5/10

Stoops wasn’t the only coach lauding a former player now with the Patriots. Former Wisconsin coach and current Arkansas skipper Bret Bielema compared Flowers to J.J. Watt, saying that the two defensive ends have similar approaches to the game in terms of work ethic, preparation, and so on.

Working against Flowers is the sheer number of defensive ends and front seven players the Patriots will have in training camp. To make the team, Flowers will have to showcase the power and aggression that made him such a good player in college.

It could come down to Flowers and fellow Arkansas alum Jake Bequette for the final spot on the defensive end depth chart. In three seasons with the Patriots, Bequette has appeared in only eight games. The introduction of Flowers into the roster battle could spell the end of Bequette’s time in New England.

At first glance, Flowers looks like he has more upside than Bequette.
