With the 2015 NFL Draft just four weeks away, the New England Patriots have a number of holes to fill on both sides of the ball after having a number of key losses in free agency after winning the Super Bowl against the Seattle Seahawks. The Patriots lost cornerbacks Darrelle Revis and Brandon Browner as well as defensive tackle Vince Wilfork. Mid-season pick-ups linebackers Akeem Ayers and Jonathan Casillas also found a lot of money in free agency. On offense, the team lost running back Shane Vereen while fellow running back Stevan Ridley and guard Dan Connolly are visiting other teams and still exploring free agency.
With needs for a starter at cornerback, depth at linebacker and on both the offensive and defensive line, and an additional running back the Patriots have a number of needs to fill. No pick will be more important to adding an impact player than their first round draft pick. With the last pick of the first round, New England–if they do not trade down in the draft–has a chance to add a player who can contribute immediately.
To get a feeling for who will be picked by the Patriots, here are a smattering of expert mock drafts and their pick for the Patriots. I will also add a brief analysis of the their choice.
