4. Retention

This is going to be a big theme for me throughout this offseason. For the Patriots, their number one goal over the next few months should not be about going after new free agents. Instead, they need to focus on retaining their own; the same guys that helped New England win a Super Bowl in 2014-15.

If you manage to bring back Revis, McCourty, Shane Vereen, Stephen Gostkowski, Akeem Ayers, guys like that, the Pats would be in very good shape to make another run at the title. The Patriots are in a very unique situation in that they are not a big piece away from becoming a contender. They are just a few pieces returning away from becoming the favorite in the AFC, which makes it vital for Belichick and company to bring back as many of their own free agents as possible.

This is going to be a fun offseason as defending champs. Let’s enjoy it, Pats fans!
