Cornerback Logan Ryan was overlooked after a strong week one against the Dolphins where the cornerback spent most of the game in a strong safety/nickel cornerback hybrid role. In coverage against the Dolphins he had just one pass thrown his way and kept the ball from receiver Brian Hartline. He willingly stuck his nose in the run defense as well.

With week one’s starting cornerback Alfonzo Dennard out with a shoulder injury against Minnesota, it was Ryan lining up across the field from the All-Pro Revis. With the large, fast, and explosive wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson lined up across from him most of the game, Ryan stepped up his game allowing just two receptions on four targets to Patterson. In addition, he stepped in front for a key interception on the Vikings’ first drive of the second half.

For a surprise starter, it was a strong statement from the second year cornerback as he stepped up and had a strong game.
