Speaking of Garoppolo, let’s start with him, shall we?

Through the first three preseason games, the rookie has performed very well, possibly even playing his way into the second quarterback spot on this roster. His accuracy and feel for the game have been off the charts, while he has also flashed bits of some good mobility in escaping pressure from the opposition.

Garoppolo will most likely be going up against backups and third stringers tonight, but that shouldn’t take away from what he does in this game. If he continues to play well, and lead his offense in a confident manner, I think Bill Belichick will have no problem handing over the backup reigns to him.

I love Mallett, and he is still the better player, but Belichick knows he will gone next year, so he wants to try and get something in exchange for him while he can. So keep an eye on Garoppolo tonight, because his performance may determine whether or not Mallett is in a Patriots uniform come opening day.
