Mallet has had one bad game, and one terrific game thus far in the preseason, so I am interested to see how he does in game number three. Jimmy Garoppolo is making a strong push to become the Pats backup this year, putting together two great games against the Skins and the Eagles.

So if Mallett wants to keep his spot on the depth chart, he must try to keep pace with Garoppolo. We know he has the arm talent, and he has the experience. But he must get into a solid rhythm, make good decisions, and not turn the football over. Doing this against the Panthers defense is no easy task, but if he manages to do it, he will look very good in the eyes of the coaching staff.
