FIRST TEAM OFFENSE – DRIVE TWO:
- Roy Finch a jitterbug on return kickoff returns.
- Showing some nice moves again and unlike week one he held onto the football.
- Had more room around the left corner and two blockers to that side. May have made a mistake cutting back inside.
- Offense right back out for the Patriots.
- Nice practice for playing in Miami in September. Get that stamina built up.
- Starting units on field for second drive.
- James White at running back to start and Marcus Cannon at left tackle on with the unit.
- Maneri still at tight end.
- Devey still out with first unit at right guard.
- Eagles burn a time-out.
- Looks like they only had ten defenders. Preseason mistake there. Got to count them in the huddle.
- Thompkins still getting regular snaps.
- Back to the two wide receivers and a fullback with a single tight end.
- Another penalty erases the run by White and makes it first and five.
- Different alignment with four receivers and White in the backfield. Wide right and slot to the right. Amendola left and Maneri off the line a step and a run right.
- All that they got just a yard.
- Different alignment with four receivers and White in the backfield. Wide right and slot to the right. Amendola left and Maneri off the line a step and a run right.
- White gets another run and just a yard again.
- Another nice job by the Eagles front seven–give credit where its due they won those individual matchups.
- Third and three and pressure on Brady.
- Offensive line did not seem to have assignments set. Eagles stunted and Cannon took man outside while Mankins was slow to kick outside for the edge rusher.
- Defensive holding saved the drive.
- Officials definitely looking to emphasize the holding so far.
- White still not finding space to run on the left side
- Solder and Maneri pushed back. Nice job by Eagles defense setting the edge again.
- Second and long and Vereen in for White
- Vereen found on a screen pass right
- LaFell on the field aligned right drawing coverage downfield
- Amendola with a nice block downfield
- Screen left on a play action to Vereen and then finding him
- A great play but yet another penalty call
- This time on Philadelphia again downfield. Hands to the face.
- Smartly declined with nine yard gain on first down to the 41. Second and one.
- Jumbo package and tackle eligible and Maneri.
- White converts first down. Nice cut back.
- Amendola in now on first and ten at 38. Lafell and Amendola wide right.
- Edelman lone receiver on left side.
- Pass deep down left sideline with nice footwork and body control by Edelman but calling it incomplete .
- Another flag but obvious defensive holding or pass interference.
- May have stepped on the sideline and called incomplete.
- Belichick is pissed-off.
- Penalty 15 yards unsportsmanlike call on Belichick.
- First and 25 now
- Big package again with two wide receivers split wide
- Maneri at tight end and on right side
- Develin at fullback and White aligned in an I-formation
- White another short carry.
- Develin had trouble blocking and White was cutting around him and slowing momentum.Patriots again align in two backs (White and Develin)
- Tight end Manieri and Edelman right and Thompkins left again.
- Cannon at left tackle for Solder again.
- White dancing.little gain.
- Second and 24 and three wide now with Edelman alone to the left and Amendola in slot right with outside receiver at top of screen.
- Quick substitutions. Develin out and Amendola in.
- Quick work by Edelman with a cushion
- Nice catch by Edelman for ten yards back.
- Manieri alone on edge rusher #98 and held up well in protection.
- A potential role as blocking tight end is a possibility.
- An extra offensive line type position as blocking tight end.
- Manieri alone on edge rusher #98 and held up well in protection.
- Sets up third and 14 at the 15 yard line.
- Four wide receivers now. LaFell and Thompkins wide with Amendola and Edelman inside. Vereen in backfield.
- Edelman working open over the middle of field but another flag.
- Another penalty flag. This is sickening.
- Offsetting penalties. Replay third down.
- Edelman and Amendola in the slot now with Thompkins and LaFell split wide.
- Vereen releasing out of the backfield.
- Cannon holding up well at left tackle.
- Good protection on the third down and Thompkins catches a back shoulder pass falling into the end zone beating single coverage down left sideline.
- This is a pass New England worked hard to get into the playbook the past two seasons with little success.
- Brady can work this throw with both Thompkins and potentially Aaron Dobson when he returns.
