One of the most interesting positional questions that has come up recently, is who will be the third tight end on the final roster? Rob Gronkowski and Michael Hoomanawanui have the top two spots sealed up, but after that, it gets a little murky. This is why D.J. Williams has to prove to the coaches he is worth a spot throughout this preseason.
Gronk and Hooman are both nursing injuries right now, which gives Williams the perfect opportunity to shine. If he can make a few plays against the Skins, that will build his confidence, and give the coaching staff more reason to keep him around. This is a big moment for Williams, one that could decide if he has a shot at making this roster.
He doesn’t have any real competition, as I don’t think Justin Jones has what it takes to make the roster right now, so it really is Williams or bust. It’s all on him to execute, and make Tom Brady happy.
