Round One, Pick 29:
TE Jace Amaro, Texas Tech
Is this a reach pick? Possibly. But I am one of the few that has stuck to Amaro throughout this whole “mock draft season”, and I see no reason why I should back off of the pick now. Amaro had a terrific senior season at Texas Tech, compiling 106 receptions, 1,352 yards, and seven touchdowns. The Patriots need another tight end to pair with Rob Gronkowski, and the thought of these two terrorizing opposing linebackers is enticing. Amaro will present a mismatch at pretty much every level for NFL defenses, and while his blocking needs some work, I don’t think he will be asked to do much of it if he were to be brought into Foxboro.
