Round Four, Pick 140: AJ McCarron (QB, Alabama)

Everyone’s favourite reality TV show star is the pick here. Of course, I’m not actually serious about that last part being a potential distraction, but it does show something about his taste in being in a cheesy reality TV show. But back to football, McCarron is by far the best quarterback remaining at this point, especially with Aaron Murray still recovering from an injury he suffered late 2013. He’s got the prototypical size, a good mental makeup, experience in a pro offense, and is a pretty NFL ready quarterback. You don’t need him to wait too many years in the wing, but it would be nice just to groom him a little bit more, and the Patriots are definitely capable of doing so.
