Round Two, Pick 62: Stephon Tuitt (DL, Notre Dame)
Finally, I get to talk about one of my favourite prospects in Stephon Tuitt out of Notre Dame. Tuitt is in a bit of a weird position in that he’s exactly what the Patriots would be looking for, inside/outside presence, able to rush the passer from all over the field, but it doesn’t warrant a spot in the first round with so many other to notch defensive lineman like Dee Ford, Kony Ealy or Louis Nix III. So it could be a bit of a stretch to think he’d be here, but for the sake of this mock draft, he will be, so go with me on this one. Tuitt has an absolutely freakish burst of power and speed for someone at 6’5 and 300 pounds. Like I stated above, he can move inside and outside, versatility is something that the Patriots always value, and Tuitt brings that in spades. So looking at the second round, the Patriots moved out of the first, and managed to grab two pretty much instant starters and got a couple extra picks.
Other Options: C Weston Richburg, DE Marcus Smith
