Round Four, Pick 140: De’Anthony Thomas (HB, Oregon)

The Patriots have shown this offseason that they desire another running back to add to their stable, and with LeGarrette Blount signing in Pittsburgh, the running back position is definitely a need. Something else to note, is that the Patriots like to have two pass catching backs in their stable, something that they lacked last year, and when Shane Vereen went down early last year, it really hurt the Patriots offense having no versatile back to catch passes. De’Anthony Thomas, while very scrutinized, definitely brings that to the team, along with killer speed. Thomas will never be an every down running back, but he can give the Patriots a real boost in the passing game, and the occasional run as a change of pace back to Stevan Ridley and Brandon Bolden (if he makes the team). The Black Momba would soon become a fan favourite in New England, and gives Brady another dangerous weapon to work with.

Other Options: WR Cody Latimer, DT Daniel McCullers, S Craig Loston
