5. Drew Brees

It pains me to put Brees over guys like Cam Newton, Alex Smith, and Tony Romo, but despite a mediocre last couple of weeks, Brees deserves to be in the top five. In my opinion, he is still the fourth best quarterback in the league, and while he has yet to consistently show that he can win on the road, I still consider him to be elite. Brees’ Saints may have lost out on a home playoff game on Sunday in Carolina, as they fell victim to a late Cam Newton comeback, but they will still be in the playoffs, and they can be dangerous. If Brees can figure out how to play away from that dome of his, New Orleans becomes a scary team to face in January, and whenever they have success, Brees is the guy producing it for them.
