5. Alex Smith
Alex Smith has quietly put together a very nice season down in Kansas City. Not only does he have the Chiefs sitting pretty with an 11-3 record, but he has that offense really clicking. They rank third in the league in points scored, including 167 over their last four games. As usual, Smith hasn’t turned the football over very much, throwing only six interceptions, while tossing 23 touchdowns. The Chiefs defense has fallen off of their early season pace, and are now 22nd in the NFL in yards given up. This has forced Smith to come out of his “game manager” role, and he is now leading his team into the playoffs, as one of the top contenders in the AFC.
